Molly was born on December 6, 1995, in Los Angeles, California, and was brought up in a traditional Jewish family. Her father, Bryan Gordon is a director and her mother Jessie Nelson is a writer-director. Molly wanted to be an actress ever since she was a little kid. She used to watch sketch comedy series like Saturday Night Live regularly, which inspired her to be a comedy actor.
Molly started performing on the LA stage at a very young age. She was in the drama club at her school and performed several times on her high school stage. When she was seventeen, she played the role of Dot in her high school performance of Sunday in the Park with George. Molly was never inclined toward academics.
