Cole Roland is a right-hand pitcher who plays for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons Baseball team. Cole emerged as a savior for the team and delivered when it needed the most against the LSU Tigers in the ongoing College World Series. Now, they will again clash for the elimination game on Wednesday and seems Cole would play an important role if he gets to play.
Early Life
Cole Roland was born on April 3, 1999, in Newton, Massachusetts. He is the son of John and Connie Roland, has two sisters, and has visited Greece. Cole grew up in Duxbury, MA, a small town near Boston.
He attended Thayer Academy, where he played football and baseball. Beyond sports, he actively participated in community service, dedicating his time to the Wounded Warriors Project and volunteering at the Special Olympics throughout his high school years.
After Thayer, he enrolled at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, where he served as a co-captain for the varsity baseball team during his senior year. He pursued a major in Government/Political Science, focusing on the study of wars, international relations, and the psychology behind mass killings and genocides.
Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Science in Management at Wake Forest University School of Business while also competing on the varsity baseball team. This dual commitment allows him to further his education while staying connected to his passion for baseball.
Cole Roland Career
He played baseball for Coach Rick Foresteire and football for Coach Jeff Toussaint all three years he attended Thayer Academy. He was named to the Independent School League’s All-Conference and All-Tournament teams all three years he played for his high school team.
Cole has been named to the All-ISL team in football each of the past three seasons and was an honorable mention pick for the Perfect Game Preseason All-Northeast Region in 2018. He got hurt before the start of his freshman year and didn’t play. As a sophomore, he did not make any starts before the season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2021, as a junior, the season was called off because of the COVID-19 epidemic. During high school and college, he worked at Rainbow Market in Dorchester, MA, a business owned by his friend’s father.
There, he assisted with the preparation and sale of Christmas trees in the winter, as well as stacking and selling other seasonal plants in the spring and fall. Additionally, he shared his knowledge and skills as a pitching coach for young players in his community and served as a coach for his former summer baseball team.
