She was born on 23 June 1995, born and raised in Mexico. Her mother is Patricia Mungia and her father is Juan Jose Rivera Arellano, who is a singer of Grupo Ciclon and Los Caminantes. Danna also has an older sister, Vania. Sadly, Paola had to experience the separation of her parents in her early childhood.
Danna Paola Career
She began her career in the acting industry at the tender age of 4, when she and Vania, her sister attended Televisa’s casting offer in Mexico City for Plaza Sesamo, which is the Mexican version of Sesame Street. Both the sisters later were offered an appearance in several episodes of the same show. At the age of 5, she was offered a role in the Telenovela, Rayito de Luz. In 2001, she was cast in the children’s telenovela, Maria Belen as the lead role of the show. Meanwhile, she also released her debut album, named Mi Globo Azul, in the same year. In 2004, she was offered a role as the lead in the children’s series, Amy, la Nina de la mochila Azul, which turned out super successful.
Her second album, titled, Oceano was also released after that. In the coming years, she received roles in many television series which were produced by Televisa. At the end of 2010, she was offered a role as the voice of Rapunzel, for the Latin American Spanish language dubbing of the film Tangled. In 2013, around May she auditioned for the Broadway successful, Wicked, for which she was offered the part of Elphaba. She was immensely appreciated and praised for her outstanding performances. The play was also a commercial success, and it sold over 100,000 tickets. It was also known for breaking a box office record which made it one of the most successful theatre productions in the history of Mexico.
Widespread Fame
She slowly entered the Hollywood industry, in January 2014, when she was cast in the movie, Saving Sara Cruz, which was to be Paola’s first English Language debut. In 2014, Danna collaborated with the popular Mexican clothing brand, Sexy Jeans, and created her line ‘Danna Paola, by Sexy Jns’ which was successful with all the items selling out all over Mexico. In August, she contributed a role in the ABBA tribute album, Dancing Queens, for the cover of “Take A Chance On Me, which became famous and was on the top list on iTunes Mexico. Paola has been cast in Wicked and has done over 300 performances.
After which she was invited by the producer Alex Gou, to play a role in the musical, play, Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar, where she was cast as the lead role and she went on a tour all across Mexico. In 2016, she was cast in the Mexican movie Como Va Lo mas sencillo es complicarlo todo. She also appeared in the telenovela drama, La Dona. In 2017, Paola appeared in the Telemundo bio-series, José José: El príncipe de la canción, based on the life of Mexican singer Jose-Jose Paola played the role of the famous Mexican singer-songwriter. Later, was cast in the Netflix Original series called Elite. It was released globally in October 2018. In 2019, she appeared as a judge on the singing competition series La Academia.
