Glover Teixeira was born on 28th October 1979 in Sobralia, Brazil to his parents. He is originally from a rural community of Sobralia. There was no power in many houses in his community, and there was only 1 gas station. In 1999, they moved to Connecticut to support his family. And to find a good job. He is an Excessive Faculty Graduate. He did his education at a local school only.

After moving to Connecticut, he found a job in Landscaping. By watching some boxers, like Mike Tyson and the early mixed martial arts fighters like Royce Gracie and Chuck Liddell compete, he decided to pursue his carrier in the same field. After 12-hour working in landscaping, he started doing the training boxing at Hat City Boxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu at American Top Team Connecticut. John Hackleman, who had trained a fighter who fought Teixeira and was impressed by the young Brazilian, invited him to his gym in California, where he started training with Chuck Liddell. He now trains and instructs at his own gym Teixeira MMA & Fitness in Bethel, Connecticut. Teixeira has competed in many grappling and MMA tournaments, like Grapplers Quest, NAGA, and Sports Fight.
He grappled with very famous fighters Jeff Monson and Brandon Vera. He won the 2009 Brazilian ADCC trials in the under 99 kg division and was second in the 2011 Brazilian ADCC trials. Glover made his first debut in the UFC in the Summer of 2012, and his debut match was a blast, where he knocked out Kyle Kingsbury in UFC 146. In January 2013 fight, he beat Jackson in the first round with a knockout and won that fight with his own style. In November 2013 only, he attended the UFC: Fight for the Troops 3. This event was the 4th, that the UFC had hosted in cooperation with a military base to support the military. He earned his title shot against the then-defending light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in 2014.
