Dr. Sean McFate, who is supposed to be living in his late 50s or early 60s, holds a B.A. degree from Brown University majoring in the subjects of history and religious status from 1988 to 1992. Later from 2003 to 2006, he received his degree in MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Lastly, he worked hard to receive his Ph.D. in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 2009 to 2012. He has remained a research fellow at Oxford and is known to be residing peacefully in Washington, DC.
Education
Sean McFate began his professional life as a paratrooper and officer in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. He has fulfilled all his responsibilities under the guidance of Stan McChrystal and David Petraeus and later received his graduation from elite training programs. Later, McFate started pursuing his career as a private military contractor and paramilitary. While fulfilling his responsibilities, he has worked to deal with African warlords, rode with armed groups in the Sahara, raised armies for U.S. interest, conducted strategic reconnaissance for the extractive industry, and many others involving the immediate decisions and steps to be taken.
He entered the business of international and became the vice-president at TD International, a political risk consulting firm having branches in Washington, Houston, Singapore, and Zurich. In addition to this position, he served as a program manager at DynCorp International, worked as a consultant at BearingPoint (now Deloitte Consulting), and also became an associate at Booz Allen Hamilton. After gaining military experience and having been involved in international businesses, McFate started writing novels and books writing down his experiences in the military. His latest book published in the past years is High Treason, which further became the number 1 best-selling book.

The book was named “Book of the Year” by the Economist, The Times, and The Evening Standard and has also achieved a listing position in West Point’s “Commandant’s Reading List”. The particular book has been published in six languages with the edition of “British title Goliath: Why the West Isn’t Winning…” McFate has also authored another book called The Modern Mercenary: Private Armies and What They Mean for World Order, published by Oxford University Press. McFate is currently holding the position of senior fellow at Atlantic Council, Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Walsh School of Foreign Service since August 2013, Advisor at University of Oxford since January 2019, Adjunct professor at Syracuse University – Maxwell School- Part-time since June 2020, and professor at National Defense University, Washington, D.C, since March 2009.
He has written many of his masterpieces for Vice Magazine, War on the Rocks, The Discovery Channel, African Affairs, Military Review, Foreign Policy, The New Republic, The New York Times, Washington Post, and many more. Despite holding military, business- international, and position of novelist and author, he is also a television personality. He has appeared on CNN’s Amanpour, Fox and Friends, MSNBC, Fox Sky News, BBC, FT, Economist, VIce/HBO, The Discovery Channel, American Heroes Channel, and many other media outlets. He has worked as an author for a total of eight book chapters in an edited academic volume and has attained a monograph on modern war for the U.S. Department of Defense.
