Michael Kimmage is best known for his recent position as the professor of history at the Catholic University of America. Along with this, he is also a professor of history, who is also a fellow of the German Marshall Fund. From 2014 to 2017, he was committed to working for the Secretary’s Policy Planning Staff in the U.S. Department of State, where his work was associated with the Russia/Ukraine portfolio.
He has published and given reviews widely on international affairs, most widely including U.S-Russian relations and American diplomatic history. He is a well-established author of three books, the most recent of which include The Abandonment of the West: The History of an Idea in American Foreign Policy published back in April 2020. Kimmage has also served as the chair of the Kennan Institute Advisory Council.
